History
The Chitradurga Fort was built by the Nayaka chieftains and later expanded by Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan. The granite boulders that form natural bastions made this fort nearly impregnable. The fort complex has 19 towers, 4 main gates, and numerous temples inside its walls.
